DXO Rocks! ...at least it did until V5.... read on

DXO is still really good and in it's own class but... since the upgrade to version 5 (that's windoze not Mac yet, despite taking my upgrade fee in November - COME ON GUYS!) the thing has slowed down too much. They have introduced a new RAW engine and whilst this looks groundbreaking stuff, if it's not quick you don't bother, well I don't. I'll put more up when I start getting impressed again, until then I don't recommend this, sorry!

The above image was taken on a Sigma 70 f2.8 Macro lens (not actually 'supported' by DXO).

If you hold your mouse over the image you will see the difference DXO makes in just a few seconds!

I think this software is brilliant, but, check your camera is supported. The price you pay depends on how 'pro' your kit is.. the Nikon D200 costs $159.

So what does DXO do? I originally thought it was just for 'fish-eye' lenses as it corrects distortion, but now I realise it does so much more...
DXO is clever and produced by some clever French people who did the maths to determine the weaknesses inherent in different camera/lens combinations. Using these calculations, noise, chromatic aberration, exposure and distortion is corrected at different focal lengths, thus the changes may be subtle but, hey, that's what you need!
